Open Eyes
Building bridges. Crossing over, reaching out. Authenticity only gains meaning when shared with others. There is nothing accidental about that, but it does call for something. A safe place, a sense of coming home within your own adventure. Steadfastness, step by step. Whether at departure, destination, or somewhere in between. It asks for acceptance. To truly be here now, and not shy away from any friction or resistance. From there, things can flow naturally. Then the ‘work’ is truly already done. Because that first step? That’s the bravest one. Again and again. And that’s how, together, we give life meaning.
My meaning?
To see. With open eyes, without striving. And then to give words to what I see. To offer perspectives. To imagine. Not to grasp, not to cling. That, to me, is choosing to leap forward.
Backed firmly, by trust.
I am Rutger. I am Open Eyes.
What I can mean for you
Maybe you’re wondering: “what do you actually mean?”. Let me explain it this way:
As a coach, I create a trusted environment where leaders and teams can reflect, learn, and grow together. I support broadening perspectives, recognizing patterns, and discovering the connections that shape work and relationships. My focus is on helping you, your team, and your organization make conscious choices, and translating those into sustainable actions. Taking responsibility is central to this: progress only happens when good intentions are truly put into practice. Often, this results from taking many small steps in the right direction. Not something grand or dramatic, but rather simple, small and down-to-earth.
Development is most effective when it takes place outside the usual context. Stepping into new worlds, a step beyond the comfort zone, allows teams and leaders to face challenges head-on instead of avoiding them. While this process can require courage, I ensure it remains constructive at all times. Meaningful growth combines depth with lightheartedness, and purpose with openness. It’s about meeting each other in the space of ‘not-knowing’, and carrying the connections and insights we discover there back into the places where they truly matter.
My goal is to empower leaders and teams to feel grounded, capable, and motivated in their own development, so they can continue it independently. I do this in many ways: through 1-on-1 coaching, team development programs, and also on stage as a speaker, chair, or facilitator. But more often it’s through simply asking a question, sharing an observation, and every now and then by using the art of Spoken Word, as you’ve read earlier. In those moments, I use what I call ‘parasymbolic language’, a lofty term that helps me articulate what is, in fact, hard to put into words. Such as the purpose of my being.
My dream is to employ this more often. Will you help me realize that dream? Then I’ll help you realize yours. And if all of this still feels a bit vague, but it does spark your curiousity: do get in touch.
Let´s see together where it might lead.
